I am humbly grateful for Christian Science and for the many avenues of learning that Mary Baker Eddy, as Leader of this healing movement, provided for her fellowmen, so that we all may apprehend the spiritual laws of God.
My introduction to this Science was simple—I picked up a copy of the Christian Science Sentinel at a local self-service laundry in the late 1960's. For several years, I read the Christian Science periodicals intermittently, spurred on by a desire to help the sick in a way that would reach beyond the practical service of making the sufferer comfortable and taking care of physical needs.
While I was reading these periodicals, I found many references to a book by Mrs. Eddy called Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. And at one time I noted that it could be obtained in any public library; so I went to one and borrowed the book.
