Your healing and Bible prophecy

From the September 1981 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Christian Science fulfills Bible prophecy. Christ Jesus promised mankind a Comforter. This Science, divine Science, is that Comforter. Some may think of the Science of Christianity primarily as a wonderful religion, an inspiring way to live and worship; and surely this appreciation will result in a meaningful religious experience, perhaps somewhat similar to that gained by many other people who deeply love God. But the full potential of Christian Science will be demonstrated more completely when we see very clearly its indispensable place in the fulfillment of Bible prophecy.

Recognizing the Science of Christ in its proper context, and understanding its imperative role in mankind's growing awareness of reality, will strengthen and preserve these teachings for humanity. To the degree that we perceive and appreciate the specific place this full and flawless revelation has in forwarding and completing the redemption of human consciousness, the Christian Science movement will maintain its steady footing.

In a certain sense some of these same points can be made in regard to healing a particular case of illness or sin. If we see the event as primarily a matter of praying so that the disease or sin or fear will disappear, we may well have some success—particularly if our prayer is based on a love of God's infinite goodness and His ongoing care for man. But there's another dimension, a perspective that often makes a healing even more significant and substantial. In fact it could help establish the completeness and permanence of the healing.
