Hold on: God's law is holding you!

From the June 1984 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In my early teens I was on a horse that was galloping at a fast pace. A dog barked, the horse shied, my feet went out of the stirrups, and I lost my grasp on the reins. Consequently I had no leverage to pull the horse in or to guide him.

We charged up a hill, where at the top was a small cliff—a twelve-to fifteen-foot drop. Should I jump off the horse or stay on? I decided to hold on. Sure enough, out we went—out into space— and just as certainly down we went, landing safely.

How many times are people confronted with fearful experiences that make them feel they have nothing really to hold on to. But there always is something. God's certain, dependable, unopposable law of good. This law is supporting us, holding us all the time. Whatever the circumstance and whoever the individual, divine law is available to carry each of us to safety, even in the midst of dramatic problems. As we hold closely to spiritual law, we'll get a grip on things and feel its underlying support.
