Poems

From evolution to revelation

From the April 1986 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The human mind had sought its god
By coming toward him from below,
From elemental moistened sod
Or image shaped by hammer blow.

Then, prophets had to blow on myth,
Seek Principle within the plan,
Perceive from God the holy gift:
Not man-made god, but God-made man.

Thus is God truly known. Not sense,
Nor mind-and-matter duly spliced,
Nor all the worldly evidence,
But in Mind's good, the ageless Christ.

Discovery unearths the fact
That earth is infinite idea,
God's own imperishable act,
And man complete within this sphere.
