Of all my healings, I especially love those that occurred as I came to understand some very basic truths of Christian Science for the first time.
While in the ninth grade I had been home from school several days with a severe cold. I was reading Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy when I suddenly discerned the significance of the truth stated therein: that I was God's idea. I said to my mother, "Does this mean that I am an idea in Mind, sort of like my having a 'good idea' in my thought?" She said it did. I was full of awe at this great fact. And that was the end of the cold.
Another healing a few years later extended my understanding of this fact. A group of my friends decided to play touch football. I was tackled by a player who momentarily forgot that this was touch football. I heard and felt a distinct "crack" in my ankle and had to be helped up. The ankle crumpled beneath me. I was assisted indoors and I called a Christian Science practitioner for help through prayer. She reminded me that I was God's idea (a truth I could understand) and then went on to explain that a spiritual idea cannot be broken, cracked, sprained, or damaged.
