A change of heart

From the January 1991 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I woke one night with a torrent of resentment rushing through me all because I felt a family member had been inconsiderate. I couldn't believe there could be such a lack of love in my own thought. It didn't seem very Christian! And I knew that I could do better than to think this way.

The first thing I had learned in the Christian Science Sunday School was that God is Love; the second, that man is the image of God. This means that in truth each of us can always be expressing God, Love. Resentment, I knew, is definitely not love. Recognizing these truths, I prayed to be relieved of this miserable and disquieting feeling.

How did I do this? I knew that in reality God's law governs me and all. This law is accessible to each of us, and appeal to it brings harmony to our lives. Whether we are new or experienced in Christian Science or whether the problem is acute or protracted, we can obtain God's guidance through prayer and gain an awareness of God's love for us.
