That the application of Christian Science is effective has been proved many times in our family. Several years ago, our older son, Bruce, earned a sales bonus from his company The sales manager and fifteen salesmen and their wives were given a cruise in the Caribbean.
On a Wednesday evening before church, we received an urgent telephone call from our daughter-in-law asking for our help. Our son was ill; the ship's doctor had diagnosed the case as acute appendicitis and said that our son would be put ashore the next morning for an operation. We gave our assurance that we would pray for our son at once and that I would fly to St. Thomas to be at shipside the next morning. We called a Christian Science practitioner for prayerful help.
I was at the ship the next morning and was taken to my son's stateroom. Bruce's cabin was crowded with the ship's doctor, his assistant, a nurse, the sales manager, and Bruce's wife. I requested that all leave so that I could have some privacy with my son and his wife. The doctor informed me that the ambulance would arrive in thirty minutes.
