Quiet victories

From the November 1995 issue of The Christian Science Journal

To bring peace to our own "war zones"
we do not need clashing brasses,
throngs and threats of vengeful punishments,
or an armament of tired arguments.

To conquer discord and sin
we need to let divine Love win.

The Christian soldier's courage is so calm
in harmony blending, See Christian Science Hymnal, No. 236.
it's often unseen
midst mankind's tangled wrangling.

Strength is not in subtlety or numbers,
subterfuge or human knowledge.
Strength is in unity with Spirit, God,
omnipotence, omniscience, infinity.

Error isn't detonated, but dissolved
by the spiritual presence of truth.

No clanging surrounds Love's victory,
but fearless faith sits serene.
In quiet confidence of Love's power
is peace.
