The triumphant trial of your faith or, Putting the crown on the cross

From the February 1997 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Trials make us stronger and teach us
"with God all things are possible," Matt. 19:26. as Christ Jesus said.
And he boldly proved this absolute law.
Can I today approximate this dominion? asks an embattled pilgrim.

James was there. Hear him.
Tough witness of reformation and healing, this disciple tells us
of the "trying of your faith."
And we hear, "Let patience have her perfect work." James 1:3,4.
Plainly, he found there are times when trials would test humans.
The aim is to be strong in the storm even while we put off the old
for the new.

After him came the apostle who said that chastening
"yieldeth ... peaceable fruit," Heb. 12:11.
And God makes "a way to escape" I Cor. 10:13. from temptation
and its resultant suffering.
Never give up, we're learning through the Christ Science today,
which gives us "rest from unreal trials," Mary Baker Eddy, No and Yes, p. 36. even while Truth
compels us to exchange sense for Soul, to purge away the dross. See Isa. 1:25 .
