Poems

Awake, awake

From the May 1998 issue of The Christian Science Journal

When I awake to a bright new day,
I turn my thought to God and say:
Let me serve as a lens so clear,
For all to see that Love is here!

Let me put self-will aside,
Let me lose all foolish pride.
Let my deeds go forth with grace,
Show Your love upon my face.

Let me serve my neighbor's need,
Whether it be thought or deed.
Let my actions thus inspire
All to act as You desire.

And when the day has come to rest,
Let me feel I've done my best,
To prove the truth that heals mankind,
Revealing that there is just one Mind.
