Interviews

PERSPECTIVES On Science, theology, and medicine

Finding a new meaning to THE MILLENNIUM

From the December 2000 issue of The Christian Science Journal

This interview with contributing editor was heard on the Christian Science Sentinel—Radio Edition, first broadcast during the week of December 6, 1999. The interviewer is of the Radio Edition staff.

Richard, what have you found that Mary Baker Eddy says about the millennium?

She recognizes its importance to Christians, although she doesn't approach it as being a particular historical day coming sometime in the future. In one instance she indicates that it's a sort of culminating point of individual spiritual growth. She doesn't really refer to it as a calendar event that we would all experience at the same time.
