Interviews with three pastors on 'a wake-up call' for change

From the February 2002 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Some segments of the public have suggested that the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center signalled the end of the world—that a Biblically prophesied Armageddon is upon us. Recently, Journal field editor asked three pastors in the St. Louis/ Metro East area to talk about the ways they are addressing these concerns with their congregations.

is the pastor of Parks Chapel, AME (African Methodist Episcopal), in Centreville, Illinois, a small city in southwestern Illinois. He's pastored the church for about seven years and describes the congregants as a good cross section of people of all ages.

I think the September 11 attack was a wake-up call for the United States, but I don't think it relates to the coming of the end of the world. After it happened, I prepared a sermon for the congregation, based on Psalm 37, which tells us to beware of evildoers. It also tells us that the wicked will perish.
