Church Alive

CHURCH. The structure of Truth and Love; whatever rests upon and proceeds from divine Principle.
The Church is that institution, which affords proof of its utility and is found elevating the race, rousing the dormant understanding from material beliefs to the apprehension of spiritual ideas and the demonstration of divine Science, thereby casting out devils, or error, and healing the sick.

The Bible Lesson is God’s musical composition.

As I read His music, may I play it as He would want it to be—
“Undivorced from truth, uncontaminated
and unfettered by human hypotheses,
and divinely authorized.”*

In varied beats and measures may the harmony of His music
Be articulated fully, distinctly,
Resonating in soft and loud notes—moderato—crisp and clear
Not blaring, nor jolting.

May His Word in music waft through the hall
And bring healing and comfort;
Enlightenment, inspiration, joy, trust,
And freedom
To those cloistered in clashing and discordant thoughts.

When the Amen—the last measure and chord—is struck
Pianissimo, legato,
May it flow and softly fall
Like a crystalline dewdrop
Blessing one and all
With eternal freshness and purity.
