Who or what condemns?

From the February 2015 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Q: In the Manual of The Mother Church, the last line of Article VIII, Sect. 6, “Alertness to Duty,” says, “By his works he shall be judged,—and justified or condemned.” Who or what condemns?

A: The Manual of The Mother Church is an incredible set of rules because they not only define how The Mother Church is to be governed, but they also provide important instructions to students of Christian Science. These instructions, when followed, help students demonstrate effectively the healing and saving power of Christian Science.

The full text of the “Alertness to Duty” By-Law states: “It shall be the duty of every member of this Church to defend himself daily against aggressive mental suggestion, and not be made to forget nor to neglect his duty to God, to his Leader, and to mankind. By his works he shall be judged,—and justified or condemned” (p. 42).
