Questions & Answers

OBTAINING BY PRAYER

Far off may seem the unattained, But what we hope and strive for, prayingly, is gained. Like rainfall to revive the flower Arrives the answer in beneficence of power.

THE SECRET PLACE

There is a path no fowl hath ever known, Which no voracious vulture's eye hath seen, A hiding where no eagle yet hath flown, A highway where no lion thought hath been, A place where only harmony is found, Where man, God's perfect image, ever dwells— E'en like the unshod patriarch's holy ground— Where love with peace discordant fear dispels. Truth doth alone reveal this secret place, Leading the earnest heart where it may learn How man, idea, dwelleth face to face With incorporeal God.

AFFIRMATION

Truth waiteth not on cycle, nor on season;      straight from their deep foundations upward spring the strong affirmatives of Love's pure reason      beyond all argument or questioning. And as each premise, mounting to conclusion,      on steady wing its course unerring holds, beyond all compromise, above confusion,      perfect effect from perfect cause unfolds.

SAMUEL

Oh , joy unspeakable that I should hear The voice of God. I thought it was a man Who called my name.

A PRAYER

Dear Lord, we wait in silent adoration, For Thy still voice which tells us how to pray; Humbly we kneel before Thy throne of glory; Father divine, Thou art our strength and stay. O gentle presence, ever with us dwelling, In whose sweet sanctuary deepest peace is found; Grant us the joy that comes to those victorious, Give us the power that freeth those embound.

GIVING

Ask and thou shalt receive; yet better it is to give. Give and it shall be given thee, for by loving and giving we live.

GOD'S DAY

Morning lies gently on the dreaming hills; The music of a new day echoes far Across the plain, through wood and field and valley. God's morning is upon us.

PUBLISHING

Oh , beautiful his feet upon the highway; And silvern is his voice above the crowd, Who publisheth the tidings of salvation, Who telleth all the love of God, aloud! So joyous and so potent is the message, The suffering and sorrowing are healed; The poor and heavy-laden, looking upward, Behold the fount of righteousness unsealed. Oh, blessed are ye, little flock of Jesus, The kingdom of your Father is for you.

LOVE'S ANGELS

When mists of doubt and fear encompass thought, And sorrow, pain, and discord peal seem, Be still and know that Truth, when humbly sought, Reveals all evil as a mortal dream. Look up to God in prayer and find surcease; Love's angels are beside thee all the way— Truth's messengers of harmony and peace.

OVERCOMING

When wrestling with the visions dark of sense, We may not always clearly see and trace The measures full and workings of God's grace; Yet in the blackest hour, the false pretense Of error's power is but a dream, immense Perhaps, to human thought, and yet untrue. To know this fact fore'er presents for you And me, against the foe, a sure defense.
