THOUGHT, GOOD OR EVIL

From the December 1886 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"A Moral compensation reacheth even to the secresy of thought. For if thou wilt think evil of thy neighbor, soon thou wilt have him for thy foe. And yet he may know nothing of the cause that may know thee distasteful to him. The cause is unkind suspicion, for which thou hast thy punishment. And if thou think of him in charity, wishing or praying for his weal, he shall not guess the secret charm that lureth him to love thee.

"No habitation of stupified sense can stand in the presence of Soul. All sense of error must fall at the feet of Love. The Christ-science, as taught by Jesus, reveals God's government as divine and supreme. The human being who has risen out of the life of self and entered into the Universal Life, has found the solution for many of the darkest and most perplexing of life's problems. Through working out the problem of living, if the Principle be understood, we can control the circumstances which effect the prosperity and happiness of ourselves; and we can also help to control the happiness and lives of others. There is a deep philosophy, as "well as a wonderful spiritual truth, in the saying of Jesus, "It is more blessed to give, than to receive."
