I am deeply thankful to God for the message of Love and Truth that has been revealed to us in Christian Science, which was brought to my notice a little over two years ago. At that date I had met with financial reverses and was in a mental condition bordering on insanity or suicide. I had a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" in my home for two or three years previous to this, but had never taken the time or trouble to read it. At this period, however, my wife prevailed on me to read the book. In so doing my mind was completely restored, and I was also healed of eye trouble of ten years' duration. The doctors said that I could never get along without glasses, but my eyes have been completely healed, simply by the reading of Science and Health. I have also been relieved of the tobacco habit, which I had indulged for twenty-five years. I have found Christian Science of great value in my business life; in fact, I owe all my success in business to the understanding of divine Love gained from the study of its text-book.
Not a day passes but what we read the Bible. Every morning my wife, our boy, and myself go over the Lesson-Sermon, and in consequence we are pretty good Bible students. We find that Christian Science eliminates fear and doubts, worry and anxious thoughts, and brings us into the harbor of Truth, Life, and Love, where there is no sense of limitation, or of bondage to heredity, and we feel secure and safe in Truth, which brings us a sense of peace and harmony. We have learned through the study of Christian Science that we do not have to die to go to heaven, and that heaven and hell are not localities, but conditions of mind. When I awoke to the fact that God is Love; that He never sends sin, sickness, and death to any of His children; that sin is punished just so long as it lasts and no longer, and that when we understand our heavenly Father aright we are at peace, — then I had a new sense of existence. I am a better man physically, mentally, morally, spiritually, and financially, than I have ever been before in my life, and it is through the study of the Scriptures as explained by Mrs. Eddy.
In conclusion I desire to say that our Leader's noble stand for Truth and right, and her devoted adherence to Christian Science, are an impelling example for Christian Scientists. My ambition is now to be a devoted follower and earnest student of the great Master's teachings as explained by Mrs. Eddy.— Chicago, Ill.
