It is with a deep sense of gratitude that I give to the world my experience of the healing power of Truth in Christian Science. For more than ten years I suffered from stomach trouble. During this period I was constantly taking medicine and under the care of physicians, resulting in only occasional temporary relief. Eventually I turned to an eminent specialist, who, after treating me for two years, told me frankly that I might obtain some relief, but never a permanent cure. Shortly after this I moved to Joplin, Mo., where my husband was engaged in mining, and my disease took on a more severe form than ever before. One day the superintendent of one of my husband's mines called" at our home on business, and noting my distress, he gently broached the subject of Christian Science. While neither of us knew anything of Christian Science, my husband had great confidence in the integrity of his superintendent, and urged me to try the treatment, which with many misgivings I consented to do. The result was, that in three weeks' time I was entirely healed, and although this was over six years ago, I have never had a return of the trouble that had held me in slavery for more than a dozen years. Not only have I physical health, but I have also gained the indefinable harmony, peace, and joy which come with the understanding of God and of man's relationship to Him.
Words are inadequate to express my gratitude to our heavenly Father for all these blessings, and to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for making the way so plain to us through that inspiring book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," which has truly opened the Bible to me. My heart goes out in gratitude for the loving care and patience with which I have been helped on the way. May my life prove more than words what Christian Science has done and is doing for me.
