Four years ago I became acquainted with Christian Science. I shall never forget the first day I went to the meeting; I immediately felt that this was what I had longed for — deliverance from sickness; and I did get deliverance in a large measure. I was healed of a chronic stomach and bowel disorder of which skilled physicians had failed to relieve me. We had also a wonderful proof with our boy, who was fourteen years old at that time. In a fall from a tree he injured his leg, and we were obliged to consult a physician, who stated that blood poisoning had set in. The leg became so bad that we seemed to be at the end of our resources, and I asked a Christian Science practitioner to treat my son, which was done; but no relief seemed to come. The doctor, whom I was still obliged to consult on account of the school (although we applied no material remedies), examined the leg thoroughly, and his opinion was so discouraging that I could not stand it any longer and declined his help. From the day the physician ceased his visits the healing took its course, though pieces of bone were discharged. The boy's left side had also been injured, and there too a few pieces of bone came out. It was several weeks before he could walk again, but now he is seventeen years old, fresh and healthy, and has also progressed in understanding.
This healing was a glorious proof of the power of Truth. At times conditions would seem dark, and I had to fight hard; but divine Love has helped me under every circumstance, however difficult, and will continue to help me along. Far greater, however, than the physical healing is the spiritual illumination which I have experienced, and which has given me such peace and tranquillity. Next to God, and to Mrs. Eddy, I cannot thank enough those who have shown me the way to divine Truth.
