More than four years ago I turned to Christian Science for the healing of my eyes, from which I had suffered untold agony for nearly a year. I was almost blind, for I could not endure the light by day, and an artificial light was unbearable. Nevertheless my physical sight was far better than my mental vision. I was in a terrible state of darkness, — "having no hope, and without God in the world." At the early age of seventeen I had lost all I cared to live for, and longed and prayed that I might die. But when Christian Science was brought to my attention, I was in a receptive state of mind, and did not refuse it. I sought earnestly for the truth, and found it. Now I love to live, and have much to live for. I have learned that God is my Life and I cannot die.
I had much to endure when first coming into Science; for me to leave my old church was at first very hard, but I was led by Truth to give up the old for the new. I also had much to meet from the fact that I was the only one among my many friends who was interested in Christian Science. I am very thankful now that I was thus alone and had to study and work for myself, for I learned many lessons that have been invaluable to me ever since. But in due time I was led by Truth into a Christian Science home and where I can attend the services, for which I am very grateful.
I have been healed of extreme nervousness, which to me was the greatest of all my physical healings. Only those who have been in a similar condition can know what I had to endure, and only those who have been healed can realize what it means to be free. I have been led from darkness to light, from sorrow and despair to joy and gladness, from discord to harmony.
