I was sick, miserable, in bondage to physical pain, discouragement, and self-will; but Christian Science has healed and freed me, and changed all this to health, soundness, and joy. Through Christian Science I walk, with the keenest enjoyment of perfect freedom of movement, three miles a day to and from the office, after six years of invalidism and helplessness, with almost constant pain in the spine, which the doctors said would keep me from ever being well and active again. I am now perfectly well.
I have also been perfectly and permanently healed of hereditary asthma. When alone in a strange city, homeless and without money, it seemed that because of this disease I must give up a position just secured; but I went to a Christian Science practitioner for help, and through the demonstration of the truth, as revealed in Christian Science, I have been completely healed, so that even the fear of the disease has been destroyed. Since I accepted this truth, i have not at any time lost a single day from the office. Christian Science has given me health and activity, home and happiness. I have also been freed from the necessity of glasses, after having worn them from childhood for near-sightedness and being so dependent upon them that I was never without them. For four years I have been entirely free from the need of them at any time.
I thank God for my healing and freedom, and I think of our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, with tender, loving gratitude for her years of loyalty, faithfulness, and love as the messenger of the truth which heals. Christian Science means indeed the opening of prison doors and the going forth into the sunshine with the sweet song of gratitude for freedom — "the glorious liberty of the children of God."
