I wish to express my gratitude for what Christian Science...

From the April 1911 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I wish to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me, and hope it may be a help to some one in search of the truth. It is over two years since I began the study of Christian Science, and they have been the happiest years of my life, for I have learned to know God, and to know that all He has made is good. I have learned to separate the real from the unreal, to think rightly.

Christian Science found me in great distress. It seemed that all had been done for me that material means could do, yet I was far from healthy. At almost the last moment, however, Christian Science was presented to me through a dear uncle, and, although I knew not what it was, I was willing to do almost anything to obtain relief, as I had suffered since I was eight years old with what doctors said was an incurable ear disease. I had been treated by seven different doctors and was operated on by the best specialists of Dubuque, Ia., but relief was only for a short time, and when it was thought necessary to go through with another I almost gave up in despair. But, thanks to Christian Science, after three weeks' study I began to feel well and happy. A great sense of peace came over me, which gave me new life and great hope, and I set to work harder than ever, for I was sure that this was the truth which Jesus said we should know and which would make us free. I began to understand and love this teaching, for I found that when it is applied it brings relief.

Our little girl, five years old, was healed in Christian Science of a supposedly incurable skin disease said to follow a fever. She had been treated for this trouble by several doctors, also by a specialist of this city, but she only grew worse. She was also healed in Christian Science of croup and stomach trouble in a couple of treatments.
