Testimonies of Healing

My heart overflows with love and thankfulness to God,...

From the April 1911 issue of The Christian Science Journal

My heart overflows with love and thankfulness to God, and with gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for the blessings I have received in Christian Science. I can testify to the healing and redeeming power of divine Love; I can prove that the blind do see and the lame walk, from the healing of my daughter in Chicago. She paid us a visit in the summer of 1904, and brought to us the tidings of great joy. I accompanied her back home, and several days after I arrived there, as I desired to learn more of this truth, I sought a practitioner, as I wished to he healed of various ailments and habits which had become a burden to me, and which in the past. I had not the power to overcome; but now the night is past, and the "Sun of righteousness" has arisen.

In Science and Health (p. 494) we are told that "divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." Since coming into Christian Science I have received the blessing of health and other manifestations of the power of Truth and Love. I shall never forget the first Christian Science service I attended. The Lesson-Sermon seemed to have been prepared especially for me. Previous to this I bad suffered from rheumatic and stomach trouble, pain in my side, and weakness in my limbs; but since coming into Christian Science I have had no need of a walking stick. The desire for tobacco and strong drink has left me, also a bad temper. A carbuncle manifested itself on the back of my neck, from which I suffered severely. Friends not in Science warned me that if I did not have material help I might die, but I trusted in the great Physician and was healed. My eyesight was very poor when this truth came to me, and I used glasses until about three years ago. one evening, when I wanted to read the Bible, I could not find my glasses, and this Scriptural text came to me: "God said, Let there be light: and there was light." I opened the Bible and found I could read. I am so glad that the darkness is past and the true light now shineth.
