In the year 1906 I twice had an attack of pleurisy which was not entirely healed through medical treatment, and the following year I had lung trouble which was so severe that I was hardly able to walk. A professor whom I asked to examine me declared that in my case it was useless to prescribe medicine or tell me to go to a sanitarium; that my lungs were seriously affected, and that I must sleep with open windows and eat very light food. I had very little appetite anyway, and besides the cough I suffered much pain and also from sleeplessness.
On the second day after the professor's examination I heard of Christian Science through a neighbor whose son had been healed by it, and he advised me to turn to it. I immediately went to Berlin and applied to a Christian Science practitioner for treatment. On the second day I ate with much better appetite, as the practitioner had explained to me that I should eat whatever I desired. I had treatment for a week, and then was able to return home to my family. I am now entirely well, able to attend to my farm and to do all the work; but I cannot describe in words the wonderful light and the happiness which has come to me through Christian Science. I do not think I would be alive if this glorious truth as taught by our Leader, dear Mrs. Eddy, had not healed me. This healing truth has also been demonstrated in various ways in my family, and I am grateful with all my heart to God, and to those who have helped me so lovingly.
