In the spring of 1911 I was not only lying in a darkened room, but to me the great truth of man's spiritual being was wholly obscured. Today the curtains are lifted, and the light of Truth is shining in, for I am perfectly healed physically, and have attained that knowledge which nothing can take from me!
For ten years I had been ill to a greater or less extent, and during this time had undergone two major operations and was treated by fourteen doctors (not including several eye specialists), but to no avail. Christian Science was my last resort, and I wish to say that the healing which I experienced at that time was wonderful. Some of the ailments were sleeplessness, stomach and bowel trouble, severe headache, neuralgia, and eye trouble, with intense physical suffering. My healing has been permanent, and my heart is filled with gratitude that Christian Science has come into my life. It has brought me only good,—health, happiness, peace, true friendship; and it is showing me how to help others.
I am grateful that I live in this age in which the light and power of Truth has again been recognized; first by one brave woman, who stood alone as against the whole world. But it has indeed been proven that "one on God's side is a majority," and my own prayer is that I may prove worthy of the great blessing which is not only for me but for all, —the blessing of knowing and feeling God's nearness,—that the "everlasting arms" of Love are beneath, around, and above me.
