I wish to witness to some of the many benefits received in Christian Science. From a child I was called delicate, and as I grew older I became almost helpless from sciatic rheumatism. The physicians, six in number, pronounced my case hopeless, saying I would become a chronic invalid; and their predictions were fulfilled. After one treatment in Christian Science, however, I slept peacefully, the first sleep I had had in two weeks, the pain having been relieved to a great extent. For the benefit of those who might feel a sense of discouragement, I will say that my complete healing has been slow, but steady.
In the summer of 1910 I met with an accident, and sustained a serious injury of the knee-joint; but the bone was set without the slightest pain and without anesthetics. The physicians said my leg would be stiff, as the water had escaped from under the kneecap; nevertheless, the splintered bone would have to be removed. They also said that in all probability I would never walk again; but one year after the accident, I walked twelve miles, all those material laws having been broken. Again, I had my shoulder badly hurt, but the joint was replaced through Christian Science treatment; and a seriously injured ankle was healed in three days.
While I have had considerable help from a practitioner, the healing has been accomplished in large measure as the result of my own faithful work and the study of the literature, by attendance at the church services, and the doing of all that I have been called upon to do in Science. I could relate many more wonderful instances of healing, for all of which I am grateful, but I appreciate most the spiritual quickening. I am thankful to God, and also to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who has again given this wonderful truth to the world.— Salt Lake City, Utah.
