Several years ago I commenced reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, not for healing, but just to see what Christian Science was like. I saw right away that it was the truth; and the wonderful truth expressed in that wonderful book was so deeply impressed on my consciousness that in a few days I discovered I was healed of a severe and long-standing case of hemorrhoids. I had never expected to be rid of this trouble unless I submitted to an operation, and I knew then it would be only a temporary relief. This healing, coming about as it did without my expecting it or even knowing that simply reading the book would bring healing, has been a great incentive to me in my study and use of Christian Science.
I have been healed of smallpox in one treatment, after the eruption had commenced to break out—all trace and symptoms of the disease disappearing overnight. I was healed of pleural pneumonia after the physician had pronounced me beyond medical aid; and many other ailments have disappeared into their native nothingness. Other members of the family have been cured,—of asthma, sick headache, influenza, stammering,—sometimes with the loving aid of a practitioner, and at other times by the application of their own understanding.
I am unable to express the satisfaction Christian Science has brought into my life. I seemed just to begin to live when I commenced studying Christian Science. Many years as a member of an orthodox church and a church worker brought a mere glimpse of light as compared to that which has come through Christian Science. I am indeed grateful for Christian Science and the universal good it is doing.— Wichita, Kansas.
