Poems

[Written for the Journal]

ATONEMENT

From the May 1926 issue of The Christian Science Journal

O Father, wise and wonderful,
From Thee we take our name;
Our heritage is hid with Thee;
Our life, our health, our liberty,
From changeless Being came.

O Father, wise and wonderful,
Hid deep within our breast
Is this, the promise of Thy Son:
Come unto me, ye weary one,
And I will give you rest.

O Father, wise and wonderful,
Our search for him is sure;
We find him in a humble mind,
In thoughts unselfish, gentle, kind,
In every motive pure.

Then, Father wise and wonderful,
Our prayer was not in vain;
For in the hush of holy thought
Our sonship, so divinely wrought,
Has come to light again.
