I express my profound gratitude to God; to our Master, Christ Jesus; and to our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for what Christian Science has done for me. I also wish to express my sincere gratitude to my dear wife, to the loving practitioners, and to the members of the Church of Christ, Scientist, with whom I became acquainted, and who so unselfishly assisted me in finding the way out of darkness into light.
Before I knew of Christian Science my health was very poor. I suffered from epilepsy, and later on brain fever and neuralgia in the head set in. I consulted kind physicians, who did their best to alleviate my sufferings. One of them sent me to Europe, because he thought a change of climate might be beneficial. But this, too, was in vain, and in the spring of 1914 my wife and I returned to the United States.
