Testimonies of Healing

[Original testimony in French]

At the end of March, 1925, I was...

From the January 1929 issue of The Christian Science Journal

At the end of March, 1925, I was taken with violent pains in the right kidney. After trying many treatments, hypodermic injections, and so on, I was told by two physicians that my only chance lay in an operation. My left kidney, stomach, and intestines were also out of order. For fifteen years I had been on a very restricted diet, which had weakened me a great deal. At the beginning of that year I did not weigh more than eighty-eight pounds. Since I did not wish to be operated on, I was given morphine hypodermically. This in one way calmed me, but in another increased the difficulty; so much so, that the amount had constantly to be increased, and I was becoming an addict to morphine.

In April of that year a loving friend, knowing that the doctors had given me up, sent me the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and I began to read it. At the end of five or six weeks, feeling better, I asked help from a practitioner, who was kind enough to come to see me immediately. She began work for me, and the improvement continued so markedly that at the end of three weeks of help, after being in bed for twenty-eight months, I arose. I no longer followed a diet, had completely lost the habit of taking morphine, and was able to take a trip to Paris. To-day I am up all day long. I am able to sleep; I travel often; and I have gained twenty-nine pounds in weight. In these few months I have been completely transformed.

It is with whole-hearted and sincere gratitude that I thank God for giving me the light. I also thank Mrs. Eddy for having devoted so many years to giving us again true Christianity; and I do not forget the consecrated practitioner who so patiently helped me to understand God and the real man. I also thank the loving one who made Christian Science known to me. My greatest gratitude to Science is that it has been completely transforming me mentally and morally, at the same time that it has given me physical healing.—
