Testimonies of Healing

Christian Science was brought...

From the January 1929 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Christian Science was brought to my attention three times before I accepted it: twice by way of conversation with students that was not convincing; then through a copy of The Christian Science Journal of the fall of 1922, mailed to me by a friend. Since then I have been a student of Christian Science; for I found in the literature that for which I had sought in many churches—reasonable answers to reasonable questions.

One morning I was awakened by a numbness in my arm, and I could not use it without pain. There was every manifestation of blood poisoning. I asked for help from a practitioner, covered my arm from sight, and read Science and Health all day. By night the pain was gone, and I could use the arm a little. As I went to sleep a quotation from the Bible was so clearly before my sight that it might have been written on the wall. I had no slightest idea then of its significance, but it had come to me in answer to my questioning thought, How is this lump under my arm pit going to be healed? It was, "He uttered his voice, the earth melted." I slept the night through, and in the morning saw that my arm was entirely healed.

I am very grateful to have my two children, girls seven and nine years of age, using Christian Science to meet their little problems. I read one section of the Lesson-Sermon to them every day: in that way they get the whole lesson every week. The fruit of this was seen when the elder girl was once complaining of a sore throat. I told her to stop her play a while and do her own work as taught in Christian Science; but she would not rest a moment. After three days, still complaining, and still playing, she called me to her, and when she was quiet said, "Do you remember reading in the lesson once,!Be silent,O all flesh, before the Lord'? Well," she continued, "I just remembered that and my sore throat is all gone away." I told her it was the "still small voice" of God that spoke to little girls as well as to big ones when they were quiet and listened.
