I was born in Italy, but came to this country more than thirty years ago. About fifteen years later I became interested in Christian Science. I could not speak English, but picked up a word here and there at the testimony meetings. I tried to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and as I studied the book I began to understand the language.
I had been looking for pleasure in matter, but found pain instead. In this suffering I felt that Christian Science would heal me; yet, knowing little about it, I thought a doctor might heal me too. Finally I went to a Christian Science practitioner for treatment, and was healed in a little more than two months. When I asked the practitioner what I could have to eat, she said to me, "Eat anything you like."
Since then I have had other healings in Christian Science, among which was a very bad case of ivy poisoning. This was healed in about a week. I suffered so much at this time that I did not want to live. I went to a Christian Science practitioner and told her my trouble. In a week I was healed. I did not understand Science and Health very well at this time, as I had had no schooling even in my own language. But as I tried to read, and as I heard the testimonies at church, I understood better; and I am writing this with very little help.
