I wish to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me. I did not investigate it for physical healing for myself, but became interested when one of my children responded quickly to its application. I had been given a Sentinel to read and had attended several Wednesday evening testimony meetings. On returning home from one of these meetings one night I found one of my children, then four years old, suffering from what appeared to be acute pneumonia. From one of the testimonies given that evening the words "God is Love" had impressed me as being a very comforting way to think of God, and on finding my child in this condition I immediately began to declare "God is Love." I clung to this statement most of the night, praying to this God of love to show me how to pray; and to my great joy my baby was healed. The only sign of her hard struggle through that night was a condition of weakness the next day.
Some time after this I was healed of ptomaine poisoning. My condition seemed so serious that my life was despaired of. A practitioner was with me, and after working for some time she told me to follow her in repeating the ninety-first psalm. My thought was so awakened by this beautiful promise that God would protect His own from the "terror" and that no evil, nor "any plague," could come near me, that fears were destroyed and I was healed. The one thing that I am most grateful for is the healing of grief over the passing on of my daughter, who was my main support. This healing came to me through the realization that Life is eternal and mortal existence is but a dream of sense.
