Testimonies of Healing

In the Christian Science textbook,...

From the September 1930 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, on page 390, are these words: "It is our ignorance of God, the divine Principle, which produces apparent discord, and the right understanding of Him restores harmony."

I should like to testify to the gratitude I feel that I have proved the truth of these words. Before accepting Christian Science I had been troubled with hay fever and catarrh for years. This resulted in such weakness that it brought about an internal trouble for which the doctor prescribed rest and great care. In spite of all the attention and rest I was receiving, I had to acknowledge that medical treatment was not healing me. Having a friend who had been greatly helped through Christian Science, I decided to get a copy of Science and Health and see if it would also help me. When I had been reading this book a little while, I realized how ignorant of God I was. Christ Jesus I loved; but God, and man created by God, I knew very little about. I remember how grateful I was when I received my first glimpse of the truth. I had not a doubt by this time that Christian Science was the truth, for I was gradually gaining health and strength. It was two years before I could say I was healed of that trouble, but the healing has been permanent; it occurred about ten years ago.

This testimony of gratitude would not be complete without an expression of my great joy that soon after this healing my mother and my sister accepted Christian Science. Since that time we have had more harmony in our home, and also many healings. Influenza, biliousness, poisoning, rheumatism, and indigestion have all been healed through reliance on the truth. My mother was eighty years of age when she accepted Christian Science. She is grateful that with the help of the Christian Science Quarterly she can read and enjoy the Lesson-Sermons.
