Testimonies of Healing

Soon after her beautiful healing...

From the September 1930 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Soon after her beautiful healing in Christian Science, knowing how much I needed help for my baby boy, a dear aunt recommended it to me. She told me of a Christian Scientist in the town where she was living, and said she felt sure this lady would be glad to help us. The baby had never been well from the time he was two weeks old, and he was then four months old. The healing was instantaneous. Never having been satisfied with the church or with material means of healing, I had read very little in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, before I was satisfied that I had found just what I had always wanted.

I moved to a small town in Michigan soon afterward, and for ten years of my study of Christian Science did not live close to any other students. I could not attend any services, but I had ample opportunity to put into practice all I knew, and thus was always learning more. I have been very grateful for those experiences, as they gave me a firm foundation. I learned to rely on God, not on person.

When one of my sons was in the woods making a play camp with two or three of his boy companions, he cut a gash in his leg. The other boys were very much frightened, but he told them he was all right and walked home, a distance of almost two miles. The cut bled very little, and the pain lasted for only a few moments. He missed neither school nor play. Later, this same son was injured while working on a rubber mill which had rollers of different speeds that were heated. The only safety was the reverse and the mill was running reverse when his hand was caught in it. When he was released, the men in authority were insistent on his having medical help, but he insisted that they should take him home, and after a little while they did so. The sense of pain was quickly overcome. The thumb was crushed, but was soon healed. In a week he was using his hand a little, and all the fears expressed by others were proved to be groundless.
