Christian Science has met my every need since I started attending the infant class in the Christian Science Sunday School. Our family came into this wonderful religion through the healing of my brother of an abscessed ear which physicians said could not be cured. All through my school life this demonstrable truth helped me to meet the problems which came up. Since my marriage Christian Science has continued to be more than a blessing to my husband, my children, and me.
I have experienced practically painless childbirth, with no complications afterward; everything was most harmonious. When our eldest son was just three months old a severe case of bronchitis was healed in two days with the steadfast help of a practitioner. Later, this little boy had measles and was healed in one treatment. The spots stayed only one day.
We have had many proofs of God's protecting care. In the winter of 1929 my husband, our eldest child, and I myself suffered with influenza. A practitioner was called, with the result that harmony was restored. When my dear mother passed on, Christian Science sustained our family as nothing else could. I realized that outward grief was just a form of selfishness; that in reality good never dies; and that God would not separate good from His children.
At one time our youngest boy was taken suddenly ill with fever, and his breath was very short. Fear crept in and we decided to call a practitioner. As our fear abated, the child improved, so that on the second night, when to material sense he was worse, I was able to rejoice and know that God is ever present, with the result that the boy fell asleep and the next morning was normal. During this experience I clung to the ninety-first Psalm and to what Mrs. Eddy says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (pp. 380, 381), "Every law of matter or the body, supposed to govern man, is rendered null and void by the law of Life, God."
Shortly after this our eldest son had two fingers crushed in a car door. We took him into the house and declared the truth for him audibly, as he was screaming. In five minutes he was quiet and nothing more was said; we went right on with our plans for a picnic. To me this was so beautiful, as fear was destroyed immediately and so made possible the healing. A new nail grew in and no discomfort was experienced.
Christian Science is helping me daily to banish sinful thoughts, such as fear, impatience, worry, selfishness, and worldly desires. It is helping me to love my neighbor as myself, and a sense of lack is being overcome. My prayer is that I may increase in the understanding of the allness of God, good, and demonstrate it in my daily life. I am very grateful for all the help received from practitioners, for Mrs. Eddy, and for membership in a branch church. I also wish to express gratitude for the Sunday services broadcast over the radio.— Minneapolis, Minnesota
