Testimonies of Healing

From the April 1933 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is with a deep sense of joy and gratitude that I desire to testify to the healing power of Christian Science. About five years ago I met with an accident in which both my shoulders were broken. X-ray pictures were taken and the shoulders set and braces put on to keep them in place. At the end of four weeks an examination was made by a physician and another X-ray taken, which showed no improvement whatever. The doctor explained that the cause of this condition was the fact that there was no lime in the bones to harden them on account of my strenuous diet of three years for ulcers of the stomach.

At the end of the sixth week another X-ray was taken showing the condition to be far worse. Then the doctors said I should have to go to a specialist and have the bones all wired together, and that after this was done I should have to take ultra violet ray treatment for about six months to harden the bones; that I should have no use of my arms for about a year, and perhaps never the right use of them.

At this time a neighbor told me that she had been healed of gallstones by Christian Science. I asked her if she thought I could be healed, and her reply was, "I know you can." A letter was written to a practitioner she mentioned, and work was commenced. In ten days I took off the braces. The next morning I got up and cut out two print dresses and that day made them both. The second day I filled two ten-quart pails with water in the sink, lifted them out, and took one in each hand and carried them down five back porch steps and out to my garden and set out cabbage plants, then took the garden plow and plowed over all the garden, using my arms with perfect ease. I surely knew that this was proof of a perfect healing. I began at once to do every kind of work I had ever done before the shoulders were broken, and there has never been any stiffness or lack of freedom in any way.
