FOR a number of years after taking up the study of Christian Science I had trouble with my back. At times I could not walk without the support of a chair or the aid of members of my family. The trouble seemed to run from under my shoulder blade to my hip. This condition recurred two or three times each year, with minor spells between times. When getting out of bed on the morning the crisis occurred, I felt as if part of my spine were gone. The assistance of two members of my family was required to get me into the living room. Throughout the day I slumped back in my chair at times and was unable to get to the table for my meals.
When night came I felt I had to work it out alone with God, so I told the family to go to bed. They were afraid to leave me alone, but I prevailed upon them to do so, telling them I would call if I needed them. I sat by the fireplace working mentally the best I knew how. I asked God to show me what the error was, feeling that I was willing to give it up no matter how long I had entertained it. Then I saw that I must overcome the bitterness I had held against one who was a drunkard. After I was able to see man as spiritual and had sifted the chaff from the wheat—had separated error from Truth—I prayed to know what more I should do. Then the message came to me as a voice telling me to burn the chaff. I then saw the whole error as a mirage. With this realization I was instantaneously healed. That was over fifteen years ago, and I have not had the least return of the difficulty.
For this and many, many other healings I am very grateful.—Portland, Oregon.
