Testimonies of Healing

With a heart full of gratitude I...

From the June 1935 issue of The Christian Science Journal

WITH a heart full of gratitude I wish to tell of the wonderful help and guidance I have received from a sincere study of Christian Science during a very trying experience in my life.

Like all my compatriots in Russia, during the Bolshevist revolution, I was deprived of my possessions, which were many. I was not very gracious in accepting this experience as an opportunity to prove what I knew of Christian Science, but drifted more or less, confident that the turmoil in Russia would soon cease and we should be restored to our former privileged positions. But when everything failed, I remembered the statement of our beloved and wise Leader on page 239of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures": "Take away wealth, fame, and social organizations, which weigh not one jot in the balance of God, and we get clearer views of Principle. Break up cliques, level wealth with honesty, let worth be judged according to wisdom, and we get better views of humanity."

The conscientious desire to fathom the deep meaning of these sentences has brought wonderful results. I was soon able to realize the truth of the words from St. James, "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above," and from it grew a deep conviction that there is no power on earth which can deprive me of my God-bestowed gifts of mental alertness, willingness to serve, and love for my fellow men. The result is a normal, happy, and useful life, wherein Love is the just rewarder.
