I didn't expect a death threat

But Jennifer Rosebrugh knew how to handle it—through prayer

From the August 2004 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Jennifer Rosebrugh has been a member of Canada's foreign service since 1986, helping Canadian firms do business abroad. Although she is based in the Canadian capital, Ottawa, she currently manages Canada's trade and investment program for sub-Saharan Africa and frequently travels to that continent.

One of the initiatives in which she is most interested—and which has received international acclaim—is the New Partnership for Africa's Development, or NEPAD. Begun in 2001, this comprehensive, made-in-Africa development plan seeks a relationship with the rest of the world that is characterized by partnership instead of dependency. For more information about NEPAD, you can visit the Web address: www.nepad.org.

In this article, Ms. Rosebrugh tells how prayer helped her face down a death threat during a diplomatic assignment she carried out before her present work in Africa. Out of respect for the privacy of the individuals in the situation she describes below, she does not disclose locations or specify events.
