AN UNEQUIVOCAL STAND

From the May 2007 issue of The Christian Science Journal

THE WORLD NEEDS HELP. These days the news often seems saturated with images of war, health crises, poverty, environmental fears, ethnic and racial oppression. But thankfully, not only despair fills the TV screen. One also sees good people responding to the world's crises. Individuals, aid agencies, governments, world leaders, churches, even celebrities and business moguls, all pitch in to offer a wide range of solutions.

Yet these solutions generally rely either on charity, political strategies, force, or religious hegemony. Can so many contending points of view ever bring about a peaceful, healthy, unified world?

As a Christian Scientist, I ask myself, What do I have to offer? Well, first, I don't kid myself. I know that whatever my answers, they won't solve the world's turmoil overnight. But I also feel certain that Christian Science does provide the most dynamic, effective, ahead-of-the-curve means to resolve the world's conflicts. In fact, this Science has the potential to solve every crisis—whenever and wherever—and to harmonize the entire planet.
