It has its own energy, its own infinite animation. It stirs and wakes us up—the way light shakes out shrouded shadows. Without inspiration, we might ask, would things change, would the human family keep on its quest for what is new, for the unseen reaches beyond what we know now? Perhaps we push at the boundaries of possibility because we have an irrepressible hunch that there’s “more.” Could this be because there really is “more” and deep down we know it?
A noticeable fact in relation to getting outside the proverbial box of limitations, is that through the ages many of our acutest thinkers have found the Bible indispensable. Pioneers in the protection of children, safe working conditions, or equal access to opportunities, cultivated their moral compass from ideas based on scriptural authority. The Bible has a clear moral standard, but more important, it specifically and unapologetically catalogs numerous counter-to-matter-as-substance events. The common thread is an individual who yearned for more good, a better life for his family and community.
And this yearning pushed that individual to look beyond matter as the limit for reality.
