Testimonies of Healing

End of monthly cramps

From the February 2013 issue of The Christian Science Journal

As a teenager, I experienced painful menstrual cramps. Sometimes the pain was debilitating, and I would dread the monthly cycle. Unacquainted with Christian Science, I assumed cramps were my lot. Over-the-counter remedies did not bring consistent or permanent relief. I felt at the mercy of a painful, unpredictable, unmanageable condition.

Eventually, I was introduced to Christian Science when I asked a friend about prayer. She said the best thing she had ever read about prayer was in the first chapter of a book called Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. Reading that chapter on prayer started me on my study of Christian Science.

Then another round of painful cramps occurred. This time I called a Christian Science practitioner—someone dedicated to the healing practice of helping people through prayer. She assured me of my freedom from the Adam and Eve curse (See Genesis 3:17). I was not sure why she was talking about a very old Bible fable when I was calling her in very present pain. However, much to my surprise, within minutes the pain vanished, never to return for now over 20 years.
