Organization and Progress Cooperation is the keynote of the various activities of our movement. Without cooperation it would be impossible to experience that helpfulness which our Leader describes on page 518 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures": "The rich in spirit help the poor in one grand brotherhood.
Good testimonies from those healed by Christian Science are always welcomed for consideration by the Editors. They should be written legibly, and the addresses given should be complete.
Students' Associations The need for eligible persons to conduct the meetings of Associations whose teachers are no longer with them has frequently been brought to the attention of the Board of Directors. Many Associations are composed of students from various parts of the field; and when the necessity for doing without the services of their teacher has arisen, some of these organizations have split up and separated, and members have applied for admission into other Associations.
The Tenets of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, for use of branch Churches of Christ, Scientist, are printed on folded sheets, containing space for adding the application form for membership in branch organizations, or extracts from their by-laws. These may be obtained in the regular size, and also in a form suitable for binding into booklets containing by-laws.
The establishment of the Foreign Literature Fund for distributing Christian Science literature in the war-stricken countries of Central Europe was announced in the Christian Science Sentinel of May 19, 1923. As the work progressed many other occasions for relieving distress have arisen, so that it now appears advisable to extend the scope of the work.
TESTIMONIES Good testimonies from those healed by Christian Science are always welcomed for consideration by the Editors. They should be written legibly, and the addresses given should be complete.
BRANCH CHURCH SERVICES [As published in the Christian Science Sentinel of September 1, 1923] The Board of Directors wish to call attention to some statements in the leading editorial, "Duty Fulfilled," in the Sentinel of August 11, which might be taken as a requirement that all branch churches which do not hold Sunday evening services shall do so. A branch church which holds one Sunday service and the Wednesday evening meeting, in accordance with the provisions of the Manual of The Mother Church, by Mary Baker Eddy, is meeting the requirements of the By-Laws so far as its services are concerned, until local conditions and the best judgment of the membership call for more than one Sunday service.
ADMISSION TO MEMBERSHIP IN THE MOTHER CHURCH Applications for admission to membership in The Mother Church may be sent to the Clerk at any time throughout the year. The receipt of an application by the Clerk does not make the applicant a member.
FROM THE DIRECTORS [As published in the Christian Science Sentinel of July 28, 1923] The question is often raised among Christian Scientists as to just how the By-law in the Church Manual regarding the joining of other societies should be applied to our everyday interest in world affairs; and while this is a problem which must be left largely to individual demonstration, yet there are times when a word on the subject may be helpful. At present there seems to be a strong impulse among Christian Scientists to organize or join clubs or societies having for their object the giving to men and women a more conspicuous place in political and social activities, and many of our good Scientists are engaged in work of this kind, their intention being to create an interest among both sexes in all that stands for reform in governmental, civil, and social circles.
TESTIMONIES Good testimonies from those healed by Christian Science are always welcomed for consideration by the Editors. They should be written legibly; and the addresses given should be complete; also, the source of all quotations should be given.
