Exploring in depth what Christian Science is and how it heals.

THE FRUITS OF THE GARDEN

Once there was a mighty lord, the master of a great estate, the ruler of many people. Daily, as he passed among them, he saw that some of them were poor and wretched, and some of them were rich and wretched, and he spent much time in thought about it, because his heart was tender toward them.

INVESTIGATING CHRISTIAN SCIENCE

A thorough investigation of Christian Science by one who is not a Christian Scientist is no light undertaking. It would be an easy task if the investigator's equipment were but the narrow intellectualism with which many even brilliant men have approached it.

THE OPEN DOOR

The Scriptures are indeed rich in simple metaphors that are well designed to illustrate to every grade of human consciousness the right way out of the bondage of material sense into heaven,—into "the glorious liberty of the children of God" which Mrs. Eddy has taught us is the spiritual sense of life or being.

There is healing, purification, strength, peace, and joy in reformation, but what is it to be reformed? Reformation is the taking up of the cross: it is the going through Gethsemane: it is the climbing of Calvary; it is the overcoming of all materiality: it is the way that leads to the understanding of God, when we shall see Him as He is. Our revered Leader says (Science and Health, p.

THE CHOICE OF LIFE

That a man may choose for himself, here and now, a life to which no death can come, is not a commonly accepted thought. Death is regarded as one of the certain things in one's history; so much so that the few recorded instances of its escape by man born of woman are looked upon with much incredulity by the world at large.

CONVERSATION IN CHRIST

One who has touched the hem of Christ's spotless garment in Christian Science begins to realize how much time and thought are bestowed upon the vanities of this world rather than upon those things which make for righteousness, peace, and health among men. He becomes painfully aware of the time spent in thinking and talking upon the too familiar subject of sickness, and he strives as never before to keep his own thoughts and conversation in Christ, Truth.

INCLUDES MRS. EDDY

You have asked for answers to your question, "Who are the ten greatest living Americans?" While your question expressly excepts those in political life, it does not expressly except women, though you seem to assume that the ten greatest living Americans are "mere male men. " Herein I differ with you.

"JUDGE NOT"

THE great Teacher of jurisprudence, the Prophet of Nazareth, Christ Jesus, positively commanded, "Judge not. " For this rule of human life there must evidently have been and still must be a great need, or the command would never have been given, for he said, "Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

SUPPLY

The belief in loss and limitation seems today to be well-nigh universal. Many of us find ourselves mesmerized by this all-pervading atmosphere and are struggling to rise above its density to a clearer altitude, where spiritual perception, unbemurked by clouds of sense, will enable us to recognize the unreality and the falsity of this claim.

TRUE IDEALISM

SOME time ago a friend told me he thought idealism so vague and mystical that it was of little use in practical life. Since then I have been thinking much about the right meaning of idealism, how under present conditions it can help us to work out some of the great problems with which we must engage whether we will or not.
