Christian Science endorses true humility as a rung in the ladder to a higher understanding of God. The more we learn of the true nature of God, the All-in-all, the greater is our respect for His highest idea, man.
It's well known today that time is a relative concept—the difference between now and then when reckoned from here or there—but Christian Science views time as relative in a far more basic way. Quiet communion with God, self-discipline, and total honesty equip us to master every adverse circumstance. Like a powerful motor, prayer gives us the spiritual energy we need to move in and master paralyzing fears.
Every blade of grass, every flower or tree or house, has a structure that gives it strength, form, and expression, enabling it to perform its function. What of Church? Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, defines "Church" in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures as "the structure of Truth and Love; whatever rests upon and proceeds from divine Principle.
What do we think of suffering, in the light of Christian Science? Is there something to be gained from evaluating it scientifically? Divine Science destroys both our pain and pleasure in matter on the basis that they are unreal because God, Spirit, is All and includes all. Science reveals man to be in his primal and permanent state now, reflecting the infinite, perfect nature of God, good, and never touched nor affected by the vulnerable and destructible personal senses.
