Testimonies of Healing

In May, 1892, I first read Science and Health. For three years previous to that time I was an invalid.

I have thought for a long time that I would write and tell you how wonderfully Christian Science sustained me in a trying hour. I was in the cyclone at Kirksville, Mo.

It is now four years since we began our investigation of Christian Science. It was through the healing of a neighbor who had suffered many years from different diseases and for five years had been an invalid.

When I came to Christian Science for healing, three years ago, I had been an invalid many years, being confined to a wheel-chair some of the time. I had been treated by many physicians; I had been in the Battle Creek, Mich.

I was brought into Science by being healed of inflammatory rheumatism in June, 1899. I will relate in part my experience, hoping it will help others.

Three years ago last January, worn, wasted, and despairing, I went for treatment to the reading rooms of First Church of Christ, Scientist, New York. The claim was hereditary consumption.

" The best sermon is the practice of Truth" (Science and Health, p. 97).

It is about four years since I fully believed in Christian Science, although for several years before I had attended the Sunday meetings. There were some parts I could not understand.

I am prompted to give to the Field a demonstration through which I have become very conscious of the power of God as set forth in Isaiah, 30:21. One morning my little boy awoke complaining of severe pains in the head, weariness, and other symptoms of fever.

I have received so much benefit from our literature, that I feel I must at least write a few lines of love and gratitude. A careful study of it has given me an understanding which I never dreamed could be obtained in this world.
