What on earth does that mean? How can we say “There is just one man” when the world is populated with billions of people, both men and women, of varying races and ages, with different physiques and personalities?
The traditional way the world defines and numbers everyone—from a material basis—is not how the Apostle Paul viewed himself or his fellow beings. He declared, “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus” (Gal. 3:28). To be “one in Christ Jesus” is to be in accord with the truth he taught about God and man. It is to express in our own understanding the same Mind that was also in the Master.
From this inspired standpoint, individual selfhood—yours and mine and everyone’s—is seen to be above mortal demographics of gender, racial and ethnic classification, economic status, and age reckoning. The term man includes the male and female of God’s creating, and refers to the spiritual infinitude and individuality of all His ideas. The underlying unity of all creation is found in one common Creator, whereas worldwide disunity stems from the false acceptance of the belief that creation has a material origin, appearing as many mortal minds and finite souls.
