What to reject, what to accept

From The Christian Science Journal - May 9, 2011

Recently, when I was on a very long phone conversation with a service provider, I learned something about God. At first, I was not looking forward to this phone call given my past experiences, but this time it seemed to go well and the required information was quickly shared. But while I was confirming certain changes, my call was dropped. I called back, waited in line again, and was connected to another representative.

Shortly into our discussion, we were both getting more and more irritated, verging on verbal blows. But then slowly, gently, the tone of our talk changed. Voices softened, laughter crept in, and by the time our business was completed, there was only harmony.

Thinking about this later, I was feeling a bit guilty that I’d gotten pulled into reacting with irritation at the representative. And that’s when I got several clear insights from God.
