The EHEC epidemic had a firm grip on Germany last spring. There already had been casualties, and people were feverishly looking for a cause. Just at that time my husband suffered from severe symptoms related to this disease. It was so intense that he had to stay in bed, which is very rare for him to do.
He did not want to consult a medical doctor but asked me for help in Christian Science. My husband is not a Christian Scientist, but in cases of sickness, he often had asked for my prayers in the past and was always very satisfied with my treatments. So we, as an experienced team you could say, started with the prayerful work towards healing. His part was, as always, to let in no fear, and my part was to give him Christian Science treatment.
In a case of contagion and in this case mass hysteria, I love to pray with the 91st Psalm. Through this psalm I understand that the person I am praying for and I are explicitly governed by the laws of God, and not subject to disease. We dwell in the “secret place of the most High” and we “abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” From this spiritual place we can face challenges courageously. That’s what we did and with great success, because in less than a week my husband was completely healed. Some people I’ve heard suffer from this disease for weeks, months, even more than a year.
